Miscellaneous items of Charles L. Livingston, his parents John H. Livingston (b.1825) and Maria Lott (b.1840), and his grandparents John A. Lott and Catherine Lott (1807-1882). Included are Catherine Lott's sketchbook, musical composition books, and an autograph book; Maria Lott's autograph book and scrapbook; Charles L. Livingston's autograph book, 1878-1882; and an architectural sketchbook and autograph book belonging to Larina and Saidee Longuire. Also included are historical notes, news clippings, programs, photographs, and Dutch Bibles from Flatbush.

The presence of the Lott family in Brooklyn extends back to 1652, when Peter Lott, a French Huguenot, emigrated from the Netherlands and settled in the town of Flatbush in the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam. Flatbush would later become part of Kings County (now the borough of Brooklyn) in 1664 after the British took control of New Amsterdam, renamed it New York, and Anglicized its place names.
